The birth of your baby is one of the most memorable times in your life and just like your wedding; it should be celebrated. A babymoon is the last romantic holiday a couple takes to enjoy intimacy and relax in preparation for your babies arrival.

While often thought to be a passing fad, the benefits of a pregnancy retreat can be invaluable to mother and baby, as well as helping you and your partner connect. Setting aside a few days can encourage a healthier and happier pregnancy and strengthen your relationship. Here are four reasons why taking a babymoon can be the best pre-parenting move you make.

Pregnancy can be exhausting. A babymoon allows pregnant women and their partners to get some much-needed rest in luxury accommodation before the baby arrives.

Stress Relief

Whether it’s doctors’ appointments, busy working days or stocking up on necessaries such as bottles, blankets and baby clothes; life can quickly become stressful for parents to be. It’s important to take time to relax. A pregnancy retreat provides activities such as pregnancy yoga and massages. This is so that you can take a break from the stresses of everyday life while enjoying the remaining ‘couple time’ with your partner.

Encourage Intimacy

Having a baby is a life-changing experience. While it is a happy time for budding parents, some couples find themselves feeling increasingly anxious. A babymoon provides a great opportunity rekindle those reasons you decided to get pregnant with this person in the first place and completely focus on each other.

Learning to Become Parents

Pregnancy retreats provide much-needed pampering and relaxation for parents. However, they also help prepare you for childbirth. At Bump & Mind, our pregnancy retreats prepare mums-to-be and their birth partners with a Royal College of Midwives accredited hypnobirthing programme and antenatal fitness workshop to build the strength you will need for childbirth. The retreat is overseen by a qualified teacher. This teacher will provide one to one support and guidance for you and your partner. This means you are guaranteed to feel at ease and more prepared for the birth of your baby. There will also be an independent midwife holding a short Q&A session to answer all questions you may have.

You are so right, a babymoon is such an important and often overlooked concept! It really helps you connect with your partner again and gives an opportunity to discuss any fears or concerns and of course just get excited! The retreat sounds like the dream!
